Terms and Conditions

Last updated: October 6, 2026 • Platform Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using FilePilot, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. FilePilot is an open, self-hosted file conversion, compression, and utility platform provided without subscription fees or artificial functional barriers.

2. Acceptable Use and Responsibility

You are exclusively responsible for the content and files you upload to the platform. You agree not to upload, process, or distribute:

  • Malicious payloads, exploits, or deliberate zip-bomb decompression weapons.
  • Content that infringes upon the intellectual property, copyright, or privacy rights of any party.
  • Unlawful, abusive, or harmful media under applicable national and international laws.

3. Platform Quotas and Safety Protections

While FilePilot imposes no pricing tiers or commercial paywalls, the platform enforces technical safety thresholds to protect host infrastructure from denial of service:

  • Single upload file ceiling: 50 GB (or host-configured limit).
  • Job execution timeout: 30 minutes per conversion task.
  • Disk space backpressure: new submissions are automatically throttled if host disk utilization exceeds 90%.

4. Output Fidelity and Transparency

FilePilot is designed to maintain original quality by default and transparently disclose property alterations (such as alpha channel flattening or lossy downsampling). While our conversion pipelines use industry-standard engines (FFmpeg, ImageMagick, LibreOffice, QPDF, Tesseract), we do not warrant that all document layouts will be pixel-identical across proprietary closed formats.

5. Ephemeral Storage Disclaimer

FilePilot is a stateless, ephemeral processing bridge, not a permanent backup storage provider. You must download and retain your converted files before the 4-hour retention expiration. FilePilot accepts no liability for unrecoverable data loss resulting from automated expiration or physical purges.

6. Warranty Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE USE OF THE SOFTWARE.
